After writing that title, the very first thing that I need to say is that I have learned a good bit about internet marketing from the books and resources written by “gurus”, BUT I have learned a WHOLE LOT from fellow marketers that are just a little further down the road than myself.
Let’s be realistic, what are the chances of being able to sit down for lengthy conversations with one of the big names in IM? Unless, of course, you’re prepared to pay huge amounts of money to have them as your coach. That is not within the reach of every internet marketer.
Fortunately, the megastars do not have a monopoly on good information. I have some friends in the game who have given me incredible help and insights to take me up to the next level each time that I’ve needed it most.
Having said that, I’ve figured out a way that I can have one of the gurus as my close friend, confidant and mentor. So can you!
My wife Alli and I ran an eBay business for over 2 years, and did very well from it. Alli sold dinnerware, and I sold information products. We learned so much during that time that has helped us in every aspect of online business. I wrote a little about eBay in my first book “The Golden Key of Success”, and continue to get feedback on it to this day.
On a regular basis I get emails from people who want information on how to get started on eBay, or how to breakout and become a powerseller. While it’s not a core of our business anymore, I do try to answer people’e questions and point them in the right direction.
So today I’ve set up a simple website to direct people to. It has a load of free articles you can read, and a couple of links to other great resources where you can get help. If eBay is your thing, or you’d just like to really figure out how it works, swing by and check it out! www.ebayprofitpower.com
Whether or not you’ve heard the term “mini site” before, you’ve probably seen examples of them all over the internet as you’ve surfed around. They are single page websites, usually in the form of a sales letter. They are extremely popular with internet marketers, and for very good reason. They work.
Mini sites are not known for being flashy. Too much flash and splash detracts from the message you’re trying to get across. And when your site is made up of only one or a very few pages, your message must get through quickly.
But as we all know, a page full of plain old text isn’t particularly appealing. And even if formatting is used to make certain things stand out, a bright and prominent graphic does a much better job of drawing our attention. So even though graphics should be used sparingly on a mini site, it’s crucial to make sure that the graphics we do use are effective.
This morning I did a phone hook up with Tim Owen, an Internet Marketer living in Norway. He was talking to me about my report “Growing Your List Every Day With Ease!” and how I came to write it.
The call is just 5 minutes long – click on the screen arrow to listen. (Doesn’t Tim have a cool “radio” voice! Nice guy too.)
Then, scoot on over and check out Tim’s blog. He has a bunch of short interviews like this with other marketers.
Whether it’s a blog post or an ezine article, or any other piece of online content, getting obsessed with optimizing for the search engines may just backfire on you!
Search Engine Optimization is obviously very important, but there is a very real problem when people become so focused on it that they end up writing for Google. The bots and spiders become the audience, and that does NOT make for good content.
The key is to “write for humans” – that way (hopefully) the content will be great, and that is still far and away the very best way to succeed. Deliver value.
When Ewen Chia’s “Secret Affiliate Weapon” exploded onto the Internet Marketing scene in 2004, who could have predicted the number of people that single product would launch to affiliate marketing success. Ewen himself claims that over 50,000 people have been helped to win back their financial freedom.
Whether or not it’s possible to verify those figures, who’s going to argue with the man? He’s been called the #1 Super Affiliate in the world.
