Beau Blackwell, who is Community Manager for Clickbank, has announced that there are some important changes coming up in January that will affect a lot of people, including both vendors and affiliates.
He specifically mentions (1) an update to the list of categories / subcategories products are organized in, (2) an easing of the requirements to qualify for direct deposit commission payments, and (3) improvements to the search capabilities in the marketplace.

What a depressing title for a blog post!
But did you know that untold people sign up as a Clickbank affiliate, work very hard to sell products and then are never paid their commissions?
Now let me be quick to say that this is NOT because Clickbank are some unscrupulous and crooked company that are stealing from affiliates. Neither are their vendors. The simple problem is in Clickbank’s Accounting Policy; specifically in the Customer Distribution Requirement. I love Clickbank! When you’re looking for great information products to promote to just about ANY niche market, there’s sure to be some cool e-book or software resource in the CB database that in a few clicks can be linked up on your site. And Clickbank merchants pay among the most generous commissions on the net.
Imagine how stunned I was to read this shocking fact that was emailed over to me this morning. Clickbank’s Vice President of Business Development recently admitted that most affiliates don’t make ANY sales. I mean, I knew something about this, but I had no idea how bad it really is. Clickbank has 1.2 million affiliates, and only 110,000 of them make at least 1 sale every 3 months. The others don’t make anything at all.
